Filoli

Flower Girl, originally uploaded by LuiGirl . I read romantic novels. It can be contemporary, suspense, comedy, historical or whatever as long as there is a love story involved, I read. You might be thinking, "what is she getting at? How is her picture related to novels?" Ahh, well I was able to go to a place where you could imagine a Historical Romance Novel could take place at. In this picture I was posing near the beautiful flower arrangement inside a gazebo that can be found in Filoli . The Filoli Estate (as I could quote) is recognized as one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century . I wouldn't be able to give justice in describing the place through my words so I suggest you go to their website by clicking on the link that I made. So romantic novels right? Before, I was having a bit of a hard time imagining the houses that the historical novels depict. But after my trip to Filoli, it all made sense. When I stepped inside the Bourn Mansion,...

Where In The World Is Carmen's Daughter?

Where? , originally uploaded by LuiGirl . Those who know me well can kid around and ask me what is latest with Jollibee. It is known to family and friends that ever since I was a kid I'm already a Jollibee girl. When I was attending elementary in CSR Manila, my kid's stuff always have a Jollibee logo. From my school bag, lunch box, wrist watch and even a desk mini trash bin, Jollibee's logo or his pudgy face sticks out. My friend Liz even gave me the title Jollibee Girl (everyone of us has her own title). So it's really evident of my love affair with Jollibee. But truth be told I was afraid of eating at Jollibee or at least see the mascot in early childhood. I remember being invited to a birthday party being catered by Jollibee. I distinctly remember my dread when I found out that the Bee will be there. But being the quiet little girl that I was, (what!!! is this part true?) I followed the heels of my Aunt Cristy and my cousin Cherry to the house of the birthday celebra...

Cul de SAC

Close Originally uploaded by LuiGirl . I've stayed at California's capital city for more than a month and yet I have just barely explored only the Downtown area. The apartment where I stayed happened to be just a few blocks from the Capitol. Just walking distance to the post office, the library, bus station, Amtrak station, Westfield Shopping Mall and the Cathedral. In Downtown in case you got lost, just remember the alphabet and how to count then you can get back to the apartment. The streets are named by ABCs and 123s. Who would have thought!!! Since I've been there for more than a month, I got the chance to share my observations to new Global Care Nurses that just came from the Philippines. I remember telling one group, since they're going out as a group, one of this days, try to get lost! Not that I mean "get out of here!" but to really get lost. I've proven it. A few weeks before I couldn't care less where K street is or where is the 11th street i...

Away From Home

After 11 hours of continous flight, care of PAL, I stepped on US soil last April 27, 2006. It was a very loooong trip! my feet hurt then. Today, almost 5 days of being an immigrant, I found myself, siting in front of the computer of my cousin's home in Daly City, California. He hasn't seen me since I was a wee baby and yet he had welcomed me to his home with open arms. My colleagues and I, (there were six of us Global Care Nurses on that flight) saw the good in Fipino immigrants here in the states. We were welcomed by loving long lost family and friends. A friend has shown us around and even brought us to a tour in Lake Tahoe even just two days of being here! How lucky! We are even treated to free lunch and dinner through generous friends. People are nice and accomodating. Thank you Lord!
